3 Traditional Marketing Techniques You Should Be Using

The advancement of technology has changed the face of marketing for the future. The ways businesses can reach new customers and stay connected has increased exponentially, which can only be beneficial in the long run.

But as more people opt for a more digital lifestyle and adopt digital marketing techniques, does this make traditional marketing methods obsolete? There is no denying that some older forms of marketing can be left in the past in favour of newer techniques, but in reality, print marketing can still be just as effective, if not more so, than its digital companion. Mainly when the two are used in conjunction.

If you are looking for the best traditional marketing methods that are still just as impactful in 2022, then this blog shares three options for you to consider.

Sponsorship

Sponsoring local sports teams, community programmes, radio shows, or anything else in your local community is still effective and impactful marketing material. Say, for example, you sponsor an under 11s football team. Not only will you get your branding on the kit using online sports kit designers, but you are effectively investing in passive marketing that doesn’t require you to do much else outside of providing financial assistance. Once your branding is on the kit, not only will the team’s parents see this, but opposing teams parents, supporters and the broader community as pictures are shared via various outlets.

Broadcasting

How many hours do you think the average person spends in a car per day? And how many of those listen to the radio? For the past five years, around 90% of people have admitted to listening to the radio at least once a week. Radio has always been a fantastic marketing tool for every business. All you need is a catchy jingle and direct approach, and before you know it, your little earworm is stuck in peoples heads, and when they need what you offer, there you are! A 30-second ad on a local radio station playing for a week can be around £500. Of course, you need to factor in production costs too.

Branded Items

Many Millennials appear to forgo the traditional marketing methods of the boomers in favour of more technologically advanced techniques. However, they are potentially doing themselves a disservice.

Branded items such as pens, stationery, clothing etc. can be just as impactful. Let’s look at branded uniforms. Say two employees get public transport to work. Potentially everyone they meet is seeing your company name and branding. Then after work, one goes for drinks with colleagues, and the other hits the supermarket still wearing their working uniform with the logo in full view. This increases the exposure and can be an effective supplemental marketing effort.

You can also apply this or anything promotional, from caps to pens, umbrellas, and more. While individually, they might not appear impactful, they are not ineffective in marketing and are still great ways to invest and compound your efforts in 2022.

In reality, a successful marketing campaign requires you to cultivate a targeted approach to your target customer and remember that no two people are the same or will react the same way to your effort. Having a good mix of techniques to support your growth will serve you well now and in the future.
